2014 in Retrospect: Part 1

the bad

Here we are, in the beginning of what is going to be a list of four posts to conclude last  year in all its forms. We start off with the bad and continue only with the good stuff: new great television shows, my favorite people and this series will obviously end with a list of my favorite movies from last year. Enjoy!

First up, 10 worst movies from 2014 I recommend staying away from !

walk of shame

Elizabeth Banks is such a talented lady and it feels a bit of a waste for her to fall for these ridiculous comedies that I dislike religiously – Walk of Shame is one of them.

if i stay

Floating head on a girl is never good but when the movie doesn’t really grab your attention, and the only good thing is the made up band, there’s nothing to rave about. If I Stay is just bland.

transcendence

Johnny Depp has fell into a whole of misery and I’m not sure if I want him out of there anymore. Though Transcendence had potential, it ended up being a cliché filled snooze fest for me.

vampire academy

Based on a book I haven’t read and might never pick up because the Vampire Academy movie was so bad in all of its aspects. Seriously, can’t even recall what the whole movie was really about!

robocop

I can hate it because I’ve seen the original though I wasn’t a fan, the remake was as disappointing for me. Even a tall cup of Swedish hunk didn’t help to improve my impression.

the other woman

Cameron Diaz had a really bad year though I guess she never has good ones anymore. Plus, all these bad female bonding comedies are awful and they keep making them to annoy me.

step up all in

There was dancing. I guess that was it. Ah, no there’s a bit more, Step Up: All In also had flicker of 3D effects in order to charge us more money for pretty much nothing.

teenage mutant ninja turtles

TMNT proves that all this remake business is just business where they are not even trying to create a solid plot. Also, Megan looks different from all angles – that shit belongs to horror films!

sex tape

With a promising beginning, Sex Tape manages to destroy itself in just minutes. Diaz and Segal might have fans but I’m no fan of this movie even while drunk.

tranformers age of extinction

And the victory for the worst movie of 2014 goes to the pile of metal that doesn’t even constitute as a movie. Oh and casting that hot female body was just creepy to all of us.

  1. Whew!!! None of your worst films appeared on my posted ‘Best of’ list. That’s actually happened on a couple of sites. 😦

I have to agree, of the ones on this list I’ve seen they are definitely stinkers.

  2. YAY, I managed to spot their badness in time to NOT watch any of them! So I have no opinion, really. Except I thought Vampire Academy might not be that bad, idk.

    1. Well consider yourself lucky!!

I can’t remember anything from Vampire Academy! IT didn’t capture me at all, it was just so blah.. maybe I was in a really really bad mood or something.. who knows.

  3. Nice list! I’ve been curious to see Transcendence but it’s been at the top of so many worst-lists for 2014. I think I’m gonna take your advice and avoid it like the plague. 🙂

  4. I haven’t seen any of Transformers, Sex Tape, or TMNT, but from what I’ve heard about them is that they were out-and-out the worst of year and did nothing but make money. I won’t lose any sleep by missing them in theatres. Great list.

    1. Indeed.. and as irony has it, seen all of them in the theater… And almost fell asleep during Transformers – the loudest movie in the world, and I was snoozing. 😀

  5. I’ve seen five of these and yup, they’re all bad. No arguments with anyone who wants to have the latest Transformers as their worst of ’14.

  6. BAH GAWD ALMIGHTY!!!! TRANSFORMERS ARE UPON US!!! UGH… That I will never… ever… see… I would rather jump off a cliff to my death than watch any of Michael Bay’s bullshit. BTW, where’s Winter’s Tale as I would put that as the worst film of 2014 that I saw.

  7. Unfortunately, I saw Transformers: Age of Extinction. By far the lamest excuse for a movie, one that got away with so many racist and sexist jokes that I am still in awe. It was so terrible that I needed the length of a blog post to vent my feelings on the movie, none of which have been resolved yet. Anyway, great list! So to speak. I’m sorry you had to sit through these films. Most of all, I’m sorry you had to watch Transformers. My condolences.

    1. The worst thing about this list is the fact that I indeed sat through all of these… and had my friends tell me “I thought it was alright” … and just.. feel utterly ashamed. 😀

  8. Didn’t see Transcendence or Vampire Academy, but I’d agree on most of those except TMNT. All I needed from that was to be entertained for 90 minutes and it accomplished that, despite how bad the story was. Below average as a whole, but not one of the worst for me. You must not have seen Tammy or Monuments Men 🙂

    1. Monuments men wasn’t bad because it was bad.. it was bad because it was a huge disappointment. I originally had a Top 10 for biggest disappointment but I scrapped it but MM was there. I stayed far away from Tammy! And for some reason, TMNT wasn’t entertaining at all to me. :/

        1. Maybe for those who didn’t, it wasn’t that catching but yeah, I mean, nostalgia is a thing that can make a movie better in someones eyes.. and it’s not a bad thing. 🙂

  9. Not surprised by anything on your list although I hoped for better with Walk of Shame. Thinking I might just completely cross that off my “to see at some far off time in the future” list. I love the titles in your picture edits!
