MR. AWARDSWith all the Oscar predictions appearing in movie blogs, me not being very skilled at predicting things, and the Oscars being right around the corner, I decided to create my own awards! The bottom line is that I’ll hand out my choices for BESTs of last year’s movies and performances, and though my choices are a bit limited due to the quite small number of 2013 releases I’ve seen but there’s enough to hand out some great Mettel Ray Awards this time of the year.

Movie That I … (2013 in retrospect)

It comes with the territory of running a movie blog that one has to do a retrospective list (or two) about movies they loved and/or hated in the soon to be ending year. Well, though I’m super bad at making ranked lists (it’s impossible for me), I still felt the obligation of sharing my favorites and less favorites from 2013 – a year where I managed to watch a little over 100 movies!

Breaking Emotions: Smiles, Thrills, Hate & Love

Previously this week I took on the challenge of posting all the scenes that create such emotions as Fear, Awkward, Tears and Surprise and it turned out quite well I think. Well, tackling the last four emotions was much more difficult, for example SMILES and THRILLS were easier picks, but HATE and LOVE were little harder to crack. Even now I’m not sure if the scenes I have listed with the last two emotions are actually the ones I want to share, but you’ll be the final judge of that!

Gravity (2013)

Gravity

Once in a while there comes a movie that will simply blow your mind. But it wouldn’t shoot your brains out American Beauty style, it will be that good kind of blowing – pun intended and all. For me, and for so many of my fellow bloggers out there, Gravity is that movie of 2013 which simply took us, shook us, threw us around, comforted us and eventually just blew us away…. into space.
