Be aware of major spoilers.
Let me start by saying that I did not enjoy Divergent nor Insurgent. In other words, I’ve now spent 258 minutes on this saga, which means I’ve wasted 258 minutes of my life on something completely unsatisfying. It would also be completely pointless if I didn’t run a movie blog where I could warn people to stay away from this one, or at least wait until it comes out on DVD so you wouldn’t have to suffer through its non-existent 3D effects.

Young Adult novels are getting more and more popular and I’m not afraid to admit that I’m going with the flow and enjoying the ride. From The Hunger Games series to the Maze Runner series, books with dystopian story lines are becoming a trend and that trend is reflected on the big screens. Whilst I don’t mind the fact that the novels like to play around with similar situations and heroins, the standard for these types of movies for me needs to improve franchise to franchise. Therefore following the highly successful Catching Fire might have been Divergent’s biggest downfall.

So just the other day I was reading Front Room Cinema’s quest to find the best movies of the past 10 years, and 2004’s pick was Sideways. Not sure if I agree 100% but I do think Sideways was one of the coolest comedies I had seen and I actually think I appreciate that movie now more than I did back then. That being said, I was not surprised when I finished watching The Descendants and my love for it seemed endless – Alexander Payne had come back with guns blazing and is easily becoming one of my favorite comedy writer (adapters)/directors out there.
