The time has come for another television recommendation post and this one has me in a pickle because I desperately want to avoid recommending Grey’s Anatomy. Like, sure, I could say that the first half of that show was good, but looking back, I dislike the show for all its melodrama and I don’t want anything to do with it this week. Also, I don’t really want to be stuck with the “drama” part because I have a comedic pick for this week that I have wanted to mention so many times now, and I don’t want to miss this chance!
When talking about genres, I’m the most demanding when it comes to comedy. There is simply a need for a level of sophistication mixed in with the humor for something to be funny. Even the silliness has to be done in a way that there isn’t humiliation involved – I just prefer lovely and clever humor over ridiculous humor and Sirens falls right into my comfort zone.
The second list in the 2014 in Retrospect series is a good one! And it also means that only good lists will appear from now on because why focus on the bad when you can celebrate the good. Since I’ve been especially fond of television shows lately, I decided to highlight 11 (because I couldn’t narrow it down to 10) newcomers from 2014 that definitely made an impression. And I didn’t really want to rank these shows but the following list is still sort of in a particular order.
Check out the 11 television newcomers that left an impression !
Though I have tons, and I mean tons! of post ideas scattered in my brain, including a cool blogathon to participate in, I was really struggling to prioritize because I’m so behind with everything. Movie reviews in particular since I’ve seen most of the things currently in cinemas, really, I’ve seen almost everything! Also, I held two TV-show-marathons whilst I was studying so I have those. Some regular features need to be revisited soon.. not to mention the Blind Spot series. So basically I’m behind with everything but here are some television newcomers I want to talk about!
